A country-rock artist originally from the Montérégie region who now divides his time between the Eastern Townships and Montreal, Alex Burger takes to the road in both his personal and professional life, crisscrossing Quebec for his solo project as well as as a member of Bon Enfant. Following the A'ment donné EP released in 2018, he arrived through the big' door with his debut album Sweet Montérégie, which earned him the Félix for Country Album in 2021 as well as a nomination as Revelation of the Year at the ADISQ gala. On stage, Alex Burger shuffles his cards brilliantly - combining country, blues, rock and folk to propel observational songs that are at once swashbuckling, funny and touching. Backed by his loyal, seasoned Prix Staff, he sings of love, music, lip-smacking, the aforementioned road, simple contentment and skidding, never neglecting to pay homage to his mother (i.e., this is country). If music is a place, Alex Burger is at home on a stage, advancing his tunes with a proverbial disarming naturalness, linking contemplative ballads and rock cavalcades, lulling the interior and making us laugh without fooling (or so little) with his uncluttered voice and his verbosity that's both uninhibited and sagacious.
